Description and Procedures
The Chancellor's Council is advisory to the Chancellor and is composed of leadership personnel from major units of the university. It exists to discuss and provide recommendations to the Chancellor on various matters of concern to the university; to maintain communication with/among all units of the university; and to provide a forum for leadership personnel.
Purposes
- To provide recommendations to the Chancellor.
- To provide communication to and invite communication from all units of the university.
- To provide a forum for the leadership of the university to bring forth issues for the purpose of achieving the mission and goals of the university.
Membership
The following persons will serve on the Advisory Council by reason of their position:

The Council is advisory to the Chancellor, who will consider recommendations from the group for comprehensive all-university input in making decisions.
Responsibilities of Members of the Council
Chair. The chair will determine the agenda and preside at meetings.
Vice Chair. The vice chair will assume all duties of the chair in the latter's absence.
Secretary. The secretary will receive agenda items from all sources and make tentative judgments about placement on the agenda and, in cases of doubt, confer with the chair. She/he will prepare minutes of each meeting and distribute them to the Council prior to the next meeting. She/he will establish an official file of minutes and place policy statements in appropriate documents for information and retrieval.
Members. Each member is responsible for studying the agenda, being knowledgeable about the issues, and knowing the importance and impact of the issue to his/her unit. Each member is responsible for conveying appropriate information to his/her unit. Members have the responsibility of acting as a team in an all-university sense on issues of importance to the institution as a whole.
Meetings
Meetings will be held on the first and third Monday of each month. Special meetings may be called by the chair.
Procedures
Agenda preparation. The agenda will be prepared by the secretary. Any member of the Council may suggest items. The secretary will generally rule on the suitability of items and check with the chair in cases of doubt.
Agenda circulation. Agendas and supporting documents will be distributed to members prior to the meeting. In the case of special meetings, as much lead time as possible will be given.
Meetings. The Council meetings will provide a forum for discussion of university issues. The Chair may bring to the Advisory Council proposals for the establishment of policies and other matters which have all-university implications. (Proposals may originate from many sources such as division councils, faculty senate, senate of academic staff, student senate, standing committees, specially appointed task forces, or appropriate administrative officers.)
