What is Educational Talent Search?

Educational Talent Search (ETS) is a federally funded TRiO program designed to assist middle school/high school students and high school dropouts with the necessary understanding, knowledge, skills, and self-esteem to continue in and graduate from high school. ETS also helps students that have been traditionally underrepresented to explore training and educational options, and enroll in post secondary institutions. What are our goals?

ETS' goal is to provide supportive services to individuals who have been underrepresented in the access of educational goals. Our aim is to assist individuals in completing high school and to enroll in post secondary education. We are committed to student success.

What services do we offer?

The ETS program provides individuals with information and assistance on educational and vocational concerns. Some of the more specific categories we deal with are:
  • Academic Survival and Study Skills
  • Personal Development
  • Career Exploration
  • Educational and Academic Awareness
  • College and Technical Training Preparation

Where do we provide these services?

ETS works in cooperation with selected school districts. Participating districts include:
  • Menomonie School District
  • Wittenberg-Birnamwood School District
ETS is located on the University of Wisconsin-Stout campus in Menomonie, Wisconsin. UW-Stout is one of thirteen publicly supported four-year universities in the Wisconsin System and the only "Wisconsin Polytechnic University".

Who is eligible?

The Educational Talent Search program is available to individuals referred by teachers, parents, and counselors. Individuals are eligible if they meet one or both of the following guidelines:
  • A potential first-generation college student (neither parent graduated from a four year college)
  • Limited income
