Online Survey Tool

For online surveys, UW-Stout participates in the UW-System licensing agreement with Qualtrics.com which provides access for Stout faculty, staff and students to create and administer surveys, gather results, and view statistics.

Before you launch your survey (open it to participants), you must have approval from the Institutional Review Board to conduct online research. This means you may either:

  1. Submit your survey questions to the IRB for approval before you begin using the tool, or
  2. Design your survey within the tool, test it, then print out the questions without activating the survey and submit them to the IRB.
If you will be doing statistical analysis with your data files, please consult with Susan Greene, the university's research technician, to make sure that your survey will produce data in the appropriate format for calculation and analysis.

Qualtrics.com provides a quick setup wizard for creating surveys, as well as tutorials, online help and instructions for creating and activating your survey.

You can login to Qualtrics.com and UW-Stout’s online survey tool, via the UW-Stout Central Authentication Service, using your Stout e-mail username and password.

Effective May 14th, 2009, all surveys will be administered through the new Qualtrics.com online survey tool.  If you have an account/survey(s)/results in the SelectSurvey tool, those will remain active and available until October 1st, 2009.  Migrating a survey from SelectSurvey to Qualtrics.com is a manual process (i.e. the survey will need to be recreated in the new tool).
