UW-Stout has begun implementation of CommonSpot, a campus-wide, web content management system (CMS). The content management system will allow non-technical people to easily maintain and update their department's web content, as well as create efficiencies for the coordination and management of the university's online presence.

Goals for UW-Stout's web content management system:
- Increase the quality, timeliness and accuracy of the university web site
- Effectively manage the most costly aspects of web publishing
- Reduce duplication of effort by reusing institutional content across the web site
- Saturate the university web site with UW-Stout's identity, brand and marketing messages
- Enable easy updates by non-technical users
- Establish suitable publishing steps for a modern web site
