Listed below are scholarships that have been available in previous years. Scholarship monies are still being finalized for the 2010 Institute.

Scaife Family Foundation Medical Scholar/Allied Health Professionals Scholarship and Stipend
The Scaife Family Foundation of West Palm Beach, Florida, is funding 23 scholarships for medical students or Allied Health professionals interested in practicing in rural America.  Assistance includes full conference registration, residence hall double room and on-campus meals.  Up to a $500 stipend will also be awarded to each scholarship recipient for travel expenses. Participants must register for Track 1 to be eligible for this scholarship.

Scaife Family Foundation – Treatment Court for Family and Adolescents and Mental Health Court

The Scaife Family Foundation of West Palm Beach, Florida, is funding 12 scholarships for professionals interested in family/adolescent treatment courts. Assistance includes full conference registration, residence hall double room and on-campus meals.  Up to a $500 stipend will also be awarded to each scholarship recipient for travel expenses. Participants must register for Track 6 to be eligible for this scholarship.

US Department of Justice

The Department of Justice is funding 30 scholarships for professionals interested in developing and advancing drug courts. Assistance includes full conference registration, residence hall double room and on-campus meals. Up to a $500 stipend will also be awarded to each scholarship recipient for travel expenses. Participants must register for Tracks 4 or 5 to be eligible for this scholarship.

Harold E. Hughes Scholarship Fund*

This perpetual scholarship fund has been established to provide ongoing recognition and honor of the contributions made to the alcohol and other drug abuse prevention and treatment field in the United States by Harold E. Hughes.  Four scholarships are awarded at the end of the conference for the following year.

Michael E. Campbell Memorial Scholarship*

The Michael E. Campbell Scholarship was established in March 2003, to honor Michael’s personal and professional contributions to the alcohol and other drug abuse and mental health field.

Wisconsin Council on Problem Gambling Scholarship Award*
The council will provide two full scholarships for two Wisconsin participants interested in attending the advanced track in the treatment of pathological gambling. Students must register for Track 17 to be eligible for this scholarship.

Larry W. Monson Scholarship*
This perpetual scholarship fund was established in memory of Larry Monson.  It is awarded annually to a rural professional in the alcohol and drug abuse field who has made strong contributions to the institute.

Char Lusher Scholarship*
This scholarship is provided by Char Lusher to help an individual with financial need to attend the institute.

Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to professionals who are experiencing financial hardship and would not otherwise be able to attend the National Rural Institute. Applicants must register for the Prevention Works in Rural America - Track 10, sponsored by CSAP.

*Assistance includes full conference registration, residence hall double room and on-campus meals.
