General UW-Stout Graduate Studies Application Process

All prospective students must follow a standard application processes which includes a general application for graduate study at UW-Stout.  Information is available on the Graduate Studies website.

Additional Application Requirements

The M.S. in Technical and Professional Communication (MSTPC) will begin offering classes during the Spring 2010 semester. The review of applications will begin Fall 2009.

To apply for the MSTPC, you will need to apply to the UW-Stout Graduate School, as well as to the program:

  • Statement of goals in this program. This three-page statement will address the candidate's academic history, employment history, and professional goals. E-mail your completed statement to the MSTPC Program Director (wattsj@uwstout.edu). The statement of goals will be used during the admission selection process and, if admitted, during the student's academic advising process. 

To gain full admission to the MSTPC, the program selection committee requires that the applicant has an overall GPA of at least 2.75 GPA. The committee will favor those students with academic and workplace experience writing and designing documents and those with keen interests in professionalizing their communication practices and project management skills.
