What is the online course sequence?


E-Learning for Educators 3 gr. credits

EDUC 760-902 September 20- November 12, 2010

EDUC 760-900 September 27 - November 19, 2010
This course meets the Wisconsin Department of Instruction professional development requirement for online teaching. “Beginning July 1, 2010, no person may teach an online course in a public school, including a charter school, unless he or she has completed at least 30 hours of professional development designed to prepare a teacher for online teaching.” [Wisconsin State Statute 118.19(13)]"

EDUC 762 Assessment in E-Learning 3 gr. credits

September 20 - November 12, 2010
 

EDUC 763 Instructional Design for E-Learning 3 gr. credits

September 27-November 19, 2010 
 

EDUC 761 Creating Collaborative Communities in E-Learning 3 gr. credits

September 27-November 19, 2010
 

EDUC 764 E-Learning Practicum 3 gr. credits

September 20-November 19, 2010
(Prerequisite: Successful completion with a 3.0 gpa in EDUC 760, 761, 762, 763 and Consent of Instructor) 

After you complete all four courses and the practicum you will receive the E-Learning and Online Teaching Certificate, in addition to the graduate credits on your university transcript.

May I enroll in one course for professional development without taking the entire course sequence?

Yes, any individual course may be completed for professional development.

How long does it take to complete the certificate?

Five semesters if you enroll in one course per term. If you enroll in two courses per term, you may complete the certificate in nine months.

When can I start and how do I register online?

Register online now to reserve your spot. Select university billing, and no payment is due until the term begins.

All courses are offered each semester (spring, summer and fall).

Do I need to apply for admission to the university's graduate program?

No, you do not need to apply for graduate admission to the university unless you are beginning a Masters degree program at University of Wisconsin-Stout. We welcome non-degree students.

When is the registration deadline?

Registration is available until each session is filled or two weeks before the course begins.

Tuition and Financial Aid Options


How much will it cost?

Tuition is the same for Wisconsin residents, out-of-state and international students. Tuition is $378 per graduate credit for 2010-2011 ($1134 per course).

Payment options: e-check, check, money order, employer purchase order, or credit card

Some courses require textbooks not included in the tuition fee.

Is financial aid available?

Yes, if you are enrolled in one of the following University of Wisconsin-Stout degree programs: Master of Science in Education degree, Master of Science degree in Career and Technical Education and Ed.S. degree in Career and Technical Education and enrolled in a minimum of five (5) credits.

What can I do with this certificate?

The Certificate in E-Learning and Online Teaching is designed for both experienced educators and those interested in entering the field of online teaching including:

• Instructors in K-12, technical and community colleges and higher education
• Trainers and continuing education facilitators in business, government, military, professional associations, and nonprofit organizations
• Health educators involved in patient education, continuing education or in-service education, community health education, or academic healthcare education
• Educators and trainers interested in creating and teaching online and blended courses, or using web-based components to enhance face-to-face instruction.
