Contribute is a Web editing software that allows non-technical users to easily maintain and update Web content. By logging in with a UW-Stout username and password, content contributors can edit a page directly from a Web browser.
To start using Contribute, you must have the software installed on your computer. Contact UW-Stout Purchasing (Procurement and Materials Management) to order the installation software.
Once Contribute has been installed on your computer, you must request a connection key from the Web Development team (webdev@uwstout.edu). Web Development will respond to your email with your connection key and simple instructions for activating your Contribute access. Those instructions are also listed below.
1. Open Contribute, click the "Edit" menu, click on "My Connections."
2. Double-click the connection key e-mail attachment via Outlook.
3. Complete the dialog box that appears in Contribute, then click OK.
IMPORTANT: The password for the connection key is author. You will only use this password once, when you install they key.
When it prompts you for a username and password use the following:
Username: uwstout-mail/username
Password: your email password
Contribute will then connect to your Web site so you can begin editing. If you have problems getting connected, call Web Development at x1218 or Barb Button, Webmaster at x2284.
